Solange/Mickalene Thomas
Solange Knowles has a new EP coming out. It sounds like right now, but you wouldn’t be shocked if someone told you it was early-Madonna-era 80’s, either. It must be what we were all waiting for — who else gets a positive review from both Pitchfork and the Huffington Post?
It looks like Solange and Dev had their picture taken at the Mickalene Thomas installation at the Brooklyn Art Museum. I saw the exhibition, and it blew me away. Her art is very tactile and 3-D. Not just the installations, but the mosaics too. The printed page doesn’t do it justice — see her stuff in person if you get the chance.
